Abstract

A recent study on the mosses of Meghalaya has revealed the occurrence of 6 taxa of the genus viz., Entodon E. concinnus (De Not.) Par. ssp. caliginosus (Mitt.) Mizushima, E. rubicundus (Mitt.) Jaeg., E. luridus (Griff.) Jaeg., E. plicatus C. Muell., E. scariosus Ren. and Card. and E. pulchellus (Griff.) Jaeg., out of which E. concinnus (De Not.) Par. ssp. caliginosus (Mitt.) Mizushima is a new addition to eastern Himalaya and E. scariosus is a new record to Meghalaya. Present paper provides the current status and morpho-taxonomic details of above mentioned species of Entodon in Meghalaya. Keywords: Meghalaya, eastern Himalaya, Entodon.
